AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Some shots. Gonna reduce the "original Weiss size by 1/2" all the way around. Did the layout, and put spacers in the full size mold. Get going, folks! The white cardboard is the fretboard shape, so I can see how it looks with the body shape. |

Perfect timing. Work came to a screeching halt for me. Got stuff done on this build, which is top and back, some bearclaw spruce I got years ago from a local hardwood dealer, some curly maple sides, and b.e maple apointments, and I did buy some walnut today for da f.b. and bridge. I think figuring b.f. cost will get me up to around $100, but I'll know when I'm done. I got the top and back joined today, and made a little b.e. maple rosette, and whatever else that's in the pics. |

Looking good. This is exciting! Wish i had time to join in the fun. Maybe I can enter late. Even if I wait until March, I can still meet the May deadline. Meanwhile, I'll just sit back and enjoy all the builds. |

Been working on da little beast. Paid my friend to thickness the top and back on his Timesaver (ain't that the truth!), so that will add another $13 to the kitty. The bracing might get shaved a little more. I'm thinking about keeping it here though, because a- it sounds really good when knocked, also, since it's got no bass strings, a stiffer top might be in order. Any suggestions? |

Alan, that looks beautiful! You mentioned that this will not have any bass strings, so might need a stiffer top. I would think that, with no bass strings, tension would be lower, and you'd want the top to vibrate more with less tension, necessitating a looser top. Can you elaborate on this? |

Thanks for the interest, Mjke. MMy thinking is a stiffer top MIGHT be better for treble, but you might be right . This is the hardest part of acoustic building for me. It's also fun too! I'm going to stare at it, and flex it, and do whatever. |

Got the bridge made (sure is a cute little thing), the walnut/ maple fretboard done, top glued on, bridge st up. Bridge and f.b. are just sitting on top. Next is the back. |

You're cruising right along on this build. Looking very nice. I've never seen one of these in person, but it looks pretty cool. Keep it up. I look forward to more updates. ![]() Darrin |

Allan, Looks great, I enjoy your posts and the guitars, Like Darrin, I want to play with one, tried one once, carried David Lindley's to his car for him after a show, love to try one of yours. If you ever head up to Northern Cal give me and Darrin a hello, I would love to get together with some OLFers, and it would be a hoot to have a jam on our challenge guitars. Rob |

I've been kicking this old bone around for a while now, and thought I'd finally try this out. Took about 15 minutes to make. Total cost, ten cents. |

Looks great, I will be looking forward to the sound clips, but not as much as I would look forward to getting to play such a thing. Great job Allan. I love the bridge, the raised area around the saddle is very cool. Rob |

Well, It's done. Still have to seat a couple of pins when I change strings. Total cost was $125, probably less. This thing is a blast to play! http://www.recordingproject.com/bbs/vie ... hp?t=40588 |
